A Crayola Sketch Wizard Review
We bought our son the Crayola Sketch Wizard because he loves to draw. I knew I could do a Crayola Sketch Wizard review and make my son happy at the same time. He saw the commercial on TV and he wanted this toy immediately! When we first took the Crayola Sketch Wizard out of the box we weren’t really sure what to think. It doesn’t take batteries, it has no lights or bulbs – so how the heck did it work? It didn’t take long before we figured it out, but I have to admit, it wasn’t as flashy as the commercial made it seem. My son LOVED it once we got it figured out, he brought over countless things to draw and was quite happy with our purchase.

Crayola Sketch Wizard Review Set-Up
Once we got it set-up and figured out my son was a drawing machine. His first few drawing were questionable but once he got the hang of it, he was doing pretty good. He brought over a ton of toys to draw, everything from coffee mugs to toy cars. He was pumping them out left and right and really enjoyed himself. I was expecting something more high-tech but for the price you can’t beat it. It does what it says it does, like everything, practice makes perfect. The more you draw with the Crayola Sketch Wizard, the better you get at it. There’s so many things you can draw, you can even use your tablet or smartphone images if you wanted too.
Crayola Sketch Wizard Toy Review
The Crayola Sketch Wizard comes with the Sketch Wizard, drawing paper, generic images to draw, 4 Crayola Twistables Colored Pencils, a graphite drawing pencil and the instructions for use. I am one of those people who don’t do well with written instructions so it was nice that it had visual instructions with it too.
- Draw 2D or 3D images and objects
- No batteries required
- Folds-up for easy storage
- Includes Sketch Wizard, paper, drawing projects, colored pencils and pencil
My 8 year old likes to draw toys but it has the capability to draw anything you can fit in the window. Place your smartphone on the drawing table and recreate those images too!
How does the Crayola Sketch Wizard work?
It works off a mirror reflection of the image. There’s a mirror on the back of it that bounces the reflection of the image through the eye hole. It’s a little hard to explain, but it does work. There are no lights or batteries, it just works off the reflection.
I took a picture here so you can look through the eye hole of the Crayola Sketch Wizard. When you look through the Crayola Sketch Wizard eye hole, you can see the image reflected back and the pencil you are drawing with so you can trace the image you’re looking at directly onto the paper below.
The paper is held in place by four paper holder slots on each corner of the flat drawing surface area. The Crayola Sketch Wizard has storage for pencils and folds up flat when for when you’re not using it.
Crayola Crayon Sketch Wizard
My son loves the Crayola Sketch Wizard. It’s not as flashy as they make it out to be in the commercial but my son loved it. The Crayola Sketch Wizard is geared towards ages 8-12 years old. Boys and girls both find this equally entertaining. It’s a very inexpensive Crayola toy, definitely worth the money once you figure out how the heck it works! ha ha This is one of those drawing toys that he takes out of the closet all the time to play with. Jeremy really into drawing and always has been, so it was the perfect gift to buy him.
Crayola Sketch Wizard by Crayola
These are the kind of Crayola toys kids love because they can create things that interest them in an artistic way that builds up their imagination! Who knows, you might have a future cartoonist or artist on your hands one day! Nurture that artistic talent while they are young.
